I have been swimming with Ross’s squad for around 2 years but started training with his Triathlon group a year ago. I started out with the intention of graining fitness and being somewhat competitive in the age group sprint and Olympic distance triathlons for the 2009/2010 season.

I had come from a swimming and a little bit of a running background, but with pretty much no cycling experience. Through Ross’s coaching my swimming has continued to improve and my cycling has far exceeded what I thought I was capable of.

I went in to the 09/10 season hoping for a top 3 finish in my age group, having only ever done one Olympic distance race and about five sprints. I finished the season winning all Sprint distance races, Sprint and Olympic Distance State Championships, State Aquathon Championships and I placed 2nd in my first Half Ironman.

Without Ross’s guidance and programs that fit around work and family life I doubt I would have been able to achieve what I have so far. I look forward to continuing my training with Ross and Exceed to meet my future goal of racing and placing in the WA elite/open field.”

Thanks to Ross Pedlow and the Exceed Triathlon Training Group I was able to win 2008/2009 Open Female Triathlete of the Year for WA and qualified/represented Australia at the 2009 World Championships on the Gold Coast. Ross’ dedication, support, thorough and specified training programs helped me improve and take my training to a higher and more competitive level including being 1st West Australian Female at 2009 Busselton Half Ironman.

I can’t thank Ross enough for all the time and effort he has put in to helping me achieve my goals and I’m looking forward to working with him towards a successful 2010/2011 season.

I began training with Exceed Triathlon group a little over 2 years ago. In that time I have received a monthly training plan, swim specific and bike specific coaching and open regular communication with Ross Pedlow, my coach. I have found that the Exceed approach to listening to the athlete’s needs and tailoring a personal program to suit work, family and personal commitments to be outstanding. Every session is designed for a specific reason and the communication I have had to allow me to know why and when I am training has assisted me to understand the Exceed training principles.

The most important facets are the training squad that Exceed has attracted and also the training ethos. There are like minded athletes with high support and camaraderie for all of the individuals within the training group. It is this support and challenge derived from training with people above my level that has allowed me to improve close to 20% in raw time splits in this year’s events. I can honestly say that this year has easily been the most productive of my career in terms of results, injury prevention, events I was able to compete in and enjoyment and this is a direct result from my association with Exceed Triathlon.

Without Exceed, I do not believe I could have achieved the year in triathlon that I have just had.

Rod Marton, 40 – 44 Male TWA Triathlete of the year 2009/10

I don’t come from a strong athletic back ground before starting with Exceed Triathlon and Ross I completed over 25 Triathlons and 2 half Ironman’s with a P.B of 5 Hours 10 minutes, I had goals I wanted to achieve but without structure to training and racing those goals were never possible. Once I started training with Ross I received structure to my training and started to achieve results which were well above what I thought possible taking my P.B in the half to 4 hours 26 and an Ironman time of 9 hours 29 along with several age group victories and podium finishes in state sprint distance and Olympic distance races. The key to my success has been the personalized service I have received from Ross he coaches each athlete differently and not with a one size fits all approach. I feel another key strength of Ross is the positive attitude he has created in the Exceed group which helps to create a dynamic environment to train in.

I have been receiving coaching from Ross for over 3 years and have found that my programmers are fresh and specific to my goals, Ross helps me to research what conditions I will be racing in and tailors the program accordingly. Ross reviews every facet of racing from the technique side of racing to equipment choices and nutrition. I have participated in many sports and under many coaches but feel Ross is the most well rounded coach I have been under and look forward to many more Ironman campaigns under Ross.
