Athlete Information

Race one will return to Champion Lakes, with a safe racing environment with no traffic and great viewing for the spectators. 

Age Groupers will once again get to race the Draft Legal format. All bikes must be compliant with the rules.

RACE DISTANCES

 

3 X Races of a SWIM 300M - BIKE 7KM - RUN 1.5KM 

# YOUTH B ATHLETES ARE ONLY ABLE TO RACE IN RACES 1 AND 3 

 

  • RACE 1 - SWIM/BIKE/RUN

  • RACE 2 - RUN/ SWIM/ BIKE 

  • RACE 3 - BIKE/ RUN/ SWIM

Race 1 is a traditional swim, bike and run to get athletes familiar with the course. The swim is a

beach start and 1 lap 300m swim, exiting on the boat ramp and into transition. The bike is also a 7km 1 lap loop before heading into transition and out on a 1 lap out and back 1.5km run until athletes run through the finish line to recover for race 2.

 

Race 2 starts with a 1.5km run, instead of running through the finish line athletes will then into transition where they will grab swim cap and googles ( most will run with them already on or down the tri suit )  where they will exit transition and head to swim start, athletes will have the option to either run in from the beach or dive from the pontoon they will swim the 300m course before exiting on the boat ramp and into transition for the 7km bike leg, once athletes have rack their bikes they must then run ( no shoes are required ) to the finish line located in front of the pavilion.

Race 3 will start with a 500m run to get to the bike, athletes will then head out on the 7km loops before heading into transition and heading out on 1.5km run they will the head into transition grab googles and swim cap and head out on the last leg of the day the 300m swim, again athletes can chose to enter the swim from the beach or the pontoon, the swim finish line will be at the exit of the boat ramp. The day is then done. Unless you are then racing the relay.

# Please note:  transition will re open briefly before the start of race 2 and 3 for re organising your equipment and bike. Race announcer will announce when this is to take place.

LEADERS SINGLET

 

The leader of each race category and gender will have a high visibility leader’s singlet allocated to them. The point’s leader on the day will wear the singlet and if the lead changes the singlet is passed on to the new race leader.  This singlet will be worn throughout the season and the winners at the completion race 3, the series final will be awarded the singlet.

 

Any athletes returning from last year’s very first Super Sprint who were winners will wear the singlet for Race 1 of race 1 at Champion Lakes.

 

POINTS FOR EACH RACE/ AWARDS

 

  • At the finish of each race athletes will be awarded points equal to their finish position.

-1st  place - 1 point,

-2nd place -2 points

-3rd Place – 3 points…. and so on.

  • The points will be tallied after each race and the athlete with the lowest score will be the race winner.   

  • Medals will be awarded to the top 3 athletes (with lowest points) in each of the race categories.

  • Athletes will be briefed before the race on what happens at the finish line to record placing this race will not be recorded with a timing chip system.

 

GENERAL RACE INFORMATION

  • Medals will be awarded to first three in each of the categories male and female

  • Open athletes will be racing for prize money, amount to be confirmed.

  • Point will be allocated during and after each race that will be made available on race day and posted online after the event.

  • You must be a member of Triathlon Australia to race draft legal, please contact events@exceedtriathlon.com if you require a day license

DRAFT LEGAL RACING RULES

 

AS the bike leg is draft leg is draft legal, ONLY road bikes, wheels and helmets that meet the strict draft legal racing requirements will be allowed to race.  Technical Officials will be checking all bikes on race day so please ensure that you read the attached forms to make sure your bike is compliant. STRICTLY NO TIME TRIAL bikes are permitted to race.

 

RACE DAY RULES    

 

Bike

  • No passing on the left at all.

  • No drafting from another race wave (if waves are sent off together this this will be allowed).

  • No drafting opposite genders.

  • No overtaking on either bridge.

  • Absolutely no littering outside aid stations

  • Swim Caps MUST be worn in each swim.
